We all hope never to have to face a situation where what we do means the difference between life and death. But if it does can you be sure you would know what to do?
The Emergency First Response Course is an innovative CPR/first aid program. It provides easy to remember Primary Care (CPR) which prepares you to render aid to those with life-threatening emergencies and Secondary Care (first aid) which trains you to you assist those in need when Emergency Medical Services are either delayed or unavailable. The course is also suitable for an HSE First Aid appointed person at work.
Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) teaches you how to deal with emergencies that are immediately life threatening. You will focus on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice.
The Emergency First Response course is a prerequisite to the PADI Rescue Diver and PADI Divemaster courses.
PRIMARY CARE SECTION
- Scene safety assessment
- Communicable disease protection
- Primary assessment
- Rescue breathing
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Conscious and unconscious choking
- Obstructed airway management
- Serious bleeding management
- Shock Management
- Spinal injury management
SECONDARY CARE SECTION
- Injury Assessment
- Illness assessment
- Bandaging and splinting for dislocations and fractures
- Defibrillator training and emergency oxygen use
Once the course is completed it is valid for 2 years.
